I think if you ever did lick the tootsi-roll pop to the center your tongue would fall off... have you ever tried? That candy gets very rough! :D

I'm pretty sure it can reach up to 1000 licks. But no one ever tries. They either leave it in their mouths, twirl it around, and let's it dissolve. No one actually "licks" a lollipop like an ice cream cone. But it does take several bites.
