I have a severe loss of power when accelearting. I cant get it above 10mph in 1st gear, 20 mph in 2nd and 75mph in general even with he foot to the floor. also when at top speed and on the motorway it dies and you have to take your foot off the accelerator and the put your foot to the floor to get it to pick up again. any ideas?

Crap in the carb maybe..Try getting it up to speed on a straight road, then depress clutch and accelerate at same time..If it's just a bit of crap, will blow it through....

Sounds like partialy blocked main jet in carbaretor , Try removing air filter canister rev engine and vamp hand hard on top of carb take hand of when it starts to die do that a few times give it plenty of revs that may clear the obstuction or water in carb , If not it could be fuel pump

Sounds like a partially blocked exhaust, you don't mention any faults or symptoms so the exhaust is the first thing I'd check.
It could be the Catalytic Converter or a collapsed Baffle etc.

i had this problem on mine i willing to bet its ur airflow sensor electronic device on the hose coming from the air filter box,
u idiots out there saying its the exhaust make me want to cry a broken baffle or cat wont affect it in that way a broken cat smells like a sewer works and a baffle just rattles, if it is an EFI then it doesnt have a carb (ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION)

What a bunch of lousy guess work. Must all be dealer mekaniks. Go to an exhaust shop and get your catalytic converter checked,

"You Know it's a ford" used to be their slogan

:)

we said it all the time when the jaguar cars in formula 1 racing blew up.

sounds to me like the coil is gone .
these are not that expensive to replace.
go to your local ford dealer or breakers yard it should be handy to replace.
