This will vary a lot depending on where you are in the country. Look in the phone book for tailor shops, call and get estimates.
If that doesn't work, call stores that sell fine men's clothes, they are much more likely to have a tailor on call than ones that sell women's clothing. Again, a simple phone call with a description of what you need should get you some prices.

the crazy russian lady beside the dairy queen will do it for 5$ she is my life line for pants

other than that at a regular tailor. . . .it will cost about 15$ for hemming and then up to 30$ depending on what you want done

i usually pay anywhere from $6 to $12 depending on how much tailoring is needed

I had it done once in high school...cos im short..but i didnt like how it looked at all they like cut the bottom of the pants off so it was basically just like no weight to the bottom of the pants ...just thin material all the way down...i hated it cos when i walked it like blew in the wind hahahah...i never did it again since now i just buy pants for shorties :D
