Jacobs field is named after a past owner of the franchise by the name of Richard Jacobs. I would be surprised if a name change occurred unless a big time sponsor came in and wanted to change the name to support their product. I am not aware of anything at this time.

Cleveland observed the call Indians because of the fact the previous NL Cleveland Spiders had a Penobscott Indian named Lou Sockalexis for a catcher. It exchange into in honor of an Indian that the club exchange into named that. chief Wahoo has been around for years, and its no longer meant to be offensive to the close by individuals, its in basic terms a sort and a exceptionally cool one at that. I stay in Montana the place we are on the factor of the Blackfoot and Flathead reservations, and that i worked in a activities shop for 5 yrs decrease back interior the 90s...they have been the main important purchasers of Cleveland, Atalanta Braves, Washington Redskins and Florida State Seminole paraphanalia. fom my own stories, they appreciate having communities with a close-by sound to them.

Unfortunately, yes...the former owner Dick Jacobs bought the naming rights when the ballpark first opened, but they expired in 2006. The Indians hired a sports management company called IMG to look for potential buyers for the naming rights. Corporate named parks are a pet peeve of mine and I'll still call it "the Jake" no matter what its name becomes.

Someone else is taking over the naming rights but I don't believe they intend to change the name. If they do I will send a letter of great anger to them.
