baby wearing is awesome!!
you don't have to have a sling... the cheapes babywearing is a wrap or Simple Piece Of Cloth (SPOC)... 5 yards, any price... cut down to about 30 inches wide... surge/hem the edges and your'e done!!
this site tells you everything you need to know about babywearing: http://www.wearyourbaby.com/
this one is awesome too: http://www.thebabywearer.com/
if you know how to sew... "mayawrap.com" has their pattern for free!! and "slingrings.com" has good rings for cheap

Babywearing rocks! I'm still happily wearing my ten month old every day and haven't bought a pushchair yet! (I'm hoping I won't have to!)
You've gotten most of the best sites in your previous answers, I just have a couple to add:
http://www.babyhawk.com
http://didymos.de/english/index_e.htm
After buying and selling many slings, I now use my ellaroo wrap and babyhawk more than any others. But different slings are good for different ages, and different activities. Find one that suits you. There are many local babywearing swap groups that you can trade slings you don't like and pick up ones you do for a reasonable price. Google for your area :)
Good luck and happy babywearing!

Everyone gave you great links so far. I made a one piece sling from one of those websites listed.
I bought a Moby wrap off ebay, it was 30 bucks. I couldn't find the right kind of material at the fabric store that was less than 5-6 bucks a yard, which is the price of a Moby. If you can find a slightly stretchy t-shirt type material, that's what a Moby is made out of.
If I had the money, I'd buy a hotsling, I think their patterns are so cute.
This is my second baby and I decided to try babywearing as much as possible--we love it! It also keeps my hands free to tackle my older child.

There are alot of products to help you wear your baby. I have a Snugli carrier at home it works well but isn't attractive like a scarf type sling. At any rate it works ok for me but sometimes it's hard to do housework since the baby is at your front. I was trying to unload the dishwasher and do laundry with my 3 month old the other day and found that a bit challenging but we worked through it and she didn't cry while I did it :)

Babywearing is brilliant. As for where you can get them, it depends where you live. I got mine from this site, and it's the best thing I've ever bought for any of my babies, extremely cheap too from here ($AUS30) and they ship overseas (or used to at least, better check that yourself).

I LLLOOOOVVVVEEEEE wearing my son! Click the link below. I wear him everywhere. My mom got mine off of ebay from a lady that makes them. I got a "ring sling". Just Google a ring-sling and you'll come up with a bunch of different searchs. It's so worth it!

I bought my sling from http://www.hotslings.com
I bought it for around $30 back in '04 for my firstborn, though, and prices then were much, much less expensive than they are now.
I'm extremely happy with my sling. It came in very handy during the first few months with both of my kids.
