Marc Ecko had the winning bid Saturday in the online auction for the ball that Bonds hit last month to break Hank Aaron's record of 755 home runs. The final selling price was $752,467, well above most predictions.
Ecko, 35, has set up a Web site that lets visitors vote on three options for the ball: give it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, brand it with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown or blast it into space on a rocket ship.
The asterisk would suggest that Bonds' record is tainted by alleged steroid use. The Giants slugger has denied knowingly using performance-enhancing drugs.
1) Give it to the National Baseball Hall of Fame
2) Brand it with an asterisk before sending it to Cooperstown
3) Blast it into space on a rocket ship

Really it belongs in the Hall of Fame. But I sure like the thought of blasting it into outer space.
I also liked Ecko's suggestion to print up a t-shirt for Barry that says "Marc Ecko paid $752,467 for my ball, and all I got was this 'stupid' T-shirt.". Not that is classic.

Well, the chances that is going to be worth less are little. And over time, it will gain worth. Also, Mark McGwire has not been on the hot seat for steroids as much as Barry Bonds has. But right now, I see it selling for an easy 3 million dollars on eBay.

the ball should go to hall of fame without branding or marking it with an asterisk.
You may use an asterisk in the record book as to the validity of the man, but not the ball. :) lol

option 1 is the best. everyone needs to be realistic. steroids have been around forever. some don't want to admit it, but it is true. if we don't celebrate bond's accomplishment, then we must reevaluate every record that is standing. dick butkus said it was happening when he played. it has happened in every sport for as long as we can remember. start testing and quit looking in the past. A-rod will pass bonds anyway, and 756 will be forgotten
