They are scary and need to get a life.

They're scary but not as scary as offline stalkers, the only time they get as scary as offline stalkers is when they start trying to hack you and find your location but if they start doing that contact your provider and they can often trace the hacker. Keep your real info, name, location, school/work a secret so that these nuts have nothing to go on and then block them. There's not much else you can do really. I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.
As for why they do it? It's because they are losers in real life and spend all their time on line hiding from their real issues until this becomes everything to them---as to why they pick certain people? I wouldn't know.

Why do people stalk? They're often full of rage, are a loner and socially inept. And they can be very dangerous.

This article was very interesting, to all the guys saying women are stalkers, too, yep, but men do it so much more:

US crime statistics show that 1 in 12 women will be stalked in their lifetime, as will 1 in 45 men.

Here's the article "Issues Related to Bullying: Those who can, do; those who can't, bully": http://www.bullyonline.org/related/stalking.htm

The article listed these characteristics of a cyber stalker (this is their statements, not mine):

"Internet stalker profile (and any stalker, especially a male):

If you've been wooed by a cyberstalker, this profile will bring you back to reality:

-lives in a 1-room apartment which hasn't been cleaned for months - if ever
-has stacks of pornographic magazines in his bedroom area
-has poor personal hygiene
-has poor table manners
-has poor social etiquette
-hasn't changed the sheets on his bed for months, which are now best described as crusty
-has a bathroom, the state of which doesn't bear thinking about
-lives on pizza and beer/coke, the remnants of which litter his apartment
-may have an unusual pet (eg ferret) which has free run of the apartment
-is either significantly over- or under-weight
-has a small moustache or other facial hair
-has not held down any job for more than a couple of years, probably less
-has no friends
-has no life outside the Internet

The Internet stalker probably has other unpleasant characteristics that sexual harassers possess, and the usual sexual inadequacy including lack of intimacy, controlling behaviour, no concept of the partner's needs, premature ejaculation, and an abnormal belief bordering on obsession in his smallness."

According to the article, the objectives of bullies are:
Power, Control, Domination, Subjugation. They get a kick out of seeing you react. It doesn't matter how you react, the fact they've successful provoked a reaction is, to the bully, a sign that their attempt at control have been successful. After that, it's a question of wearing you down. The more your try to explain, negotiate, conciliate, etc the more gratification they obtain from your increasingly desperate attempts to communicate with them.

-Understand that it is not possible to communicate in a mature adult manner with a disordered individual who's emotionally retarded.-

Here's some things I'd do to deal with it here:

Make your profile private, so no one can look at your Q&A in your profile. You can also make your profile private, but allow people you add as contacts to see your Q&A's from your profile. You can also block people so they can't answer your questions.

I wouldn't report them to Yahoo more than once or twice, since in the past, Yahoo actually deleted people who complain a lot to them, even when it's legitimate!

If they haven't blocked you, and they have violated Yahoo Community Guidelines, you should report their questions, when you see them, their answers as well, if you run across them. I don't bother hunting anyone down, but if the question or answer is obviously sick and I run across it, and it violates Yahoo Community Guidelines, I report it. I've had my Q&A's reported, and they did usually violate something or other.

But I do know some people just reported people's Q&A's just because they could, but that might be why YA changed the reporting methods. It does seem a bit calmer lately.

you are dealing with a very sick person, block them from answering your Questions, Don't respond to them in any way, positive or negative, that is what keeps then going. Make your question and answers private, Mark all of their e-mails as Spam, You may need to change your e-mail address, Do not read the e-mails just delete them. Keep a log on what ,this person attempts, May be useful one day. This person is not playing with a full deck.
Good luck!

It is never healthy for anyone to get that attached to someone over the internet. And I would assume it would be pretty worrisome for the other person. But I would like to point out that women do this too. And also some women are part of the problem in cases where they are being stalked by these people because they encourage it for awhile because it makes them feel special to have someone that into them.

Is this an invitation? What kind of really offencive stalking can someone affectively do on line? Can't you just turn the computer off? Just a thought.

They are super losers. Masters of the art of losery. Perhaps they even have trophies for such.

They are the saddest of all stalkers. Hopefully they'll give up stalking before they graduate and move onto real world stalking.

They are cowards with deep deep issues with women and need to somehow dominate and control them, since they most likely can't get control of their own lives. Probably have severe insecuritues and social disorders. Doing it online means they don't have to actually show their face or leave their home... true cowards, and sickos.
