Yes, but not in any religious way. Modern (ie, "post-industrial") civilization is going to fall from the combined effects of climactic change, peak oil, and economic collapse within two decades. The developing crisis will be aggravated by resource wars that may escalate to the use of WMDs by the major powers. The upshot of all this, what William Kunstler calls the "Long Emergency" and Carolyn Baker calls the "Terminal Triangle", is likely to be a massive dieoff of the human population.
As to how long we have, I have a good guess about my own country, the US, but I'm less sure about the rest of the world. My best guess for America's immediate future is that we will have hyperinflation in the US within 6 months (March, 2008 at the latest) which will in turn cause a complete collapse of the economy within 18 months (March, 2009 at the latest). Economic collapse will then make it utterly impossible for the US to buy the vast amounts of oil it needs to keep it's society functioning. We will then experience what some people call "gridcrash". Society will at this point be on the brink of utter collapse.
After that, it gets harder to predict. If the GOP is returned to power, they will probably institute martial law. Martial law may keep the US from falling apart for a while but only if the authorities act swiftly and ruthlessly. However, a regime that tough will be certain to continue US adventurism abroad, which will become ever more dangerous as the rest of the world gets more desperate. I see a high probability that another GOP administration will end up getting the US nuked...
On the other hand if the Democrats take power, I see a high probability that the governing regime will simply not be tough enough to do what will have to be done to preserve unity and order after gridcrash. A Clinton-Obama administration would, I suspect, be just a higher level version of the Blanco-Nagin combo that was so dysfunctional during the Katrina crisis in New Orleans. The difference is that in this case there would be no rich, stable outside to send in the help that will be needed. Under a weak administration, economic collapse will lead directly to social collapse, and after that the sky is the limit for the horrors that will be unleashed here:
Famine,
Cannibalism,
Ethnic Cleansing,
You Name It;
It will all come to pass and more....

This is a good question and the right answer is fairly irrelevant. The end of days has been coming since the beginning of days. Actually the entire idea of time is man’s concept of how to deal with what is going on while he is around and only matters to us. I guess what I am saying is that the beginning and the end is mans way of rationalizing reality as we see it. It’s a simple man made point of reference. Just imaging for a moment what things would be like with out any reference to time what so ever? Just a thought.
My answer has to be this. Yes the end is near. The Bibles version in fact becomes more of a reality each and every day. The fact that there is no concept of a time line in the bibles version and the fact that we have already seen events that are described in the bible. A unified Europe and the rise and fall of Babylon.
When I say near not with in the next 20 years, but the rapture is going on as we speak. The good news is that its ok the end is as natural as the beginning. Living life to it’s fullest on either account is my best recommendation.

" These are our finally days," well at least that's what my Pastor said.
Who really knows when the end of the world is going to be. It could be tommarrow or next week for all we know. I don't think anyone can guess that, not even the Pope.
All I know is that everyone should enjoy their lives while they still can. Because once Armaggedon hits, that's it.
No more Playstations, no more pizza, no more chocolate, no more computers... unless they have computers in heaven which I really doubt.
These are our finally days, enjoy them while you can.

If you so happen to follow this evangellical/cult belief the end of days has been plotted at least 4 times by now, none of which happened, if you'll note. Since the callander has changed 3 or 4 times since this idea was generally plotted (vaguely) any correct date doesn't exist. If you want the end of the earth to happen quickly, litter as much as possible and vote republican.

Yes, the end of day is near. Around this time of year I give it until about 6:58. Then it is the begining of night.
If you miss it, it will happen again tomorrow at roughly the same time.

oh, a month or so. what I'M wondering is just HOW the end of days will come. will the earth plummet into the sun? will all the nuclear bombs on earth explode at once accidntally? will gravity suddenly stop working? endless possibilities, only one end of days. such a shame. it's too bad we can't give them all a chance.

I think it's overrated on how it's so widely worried about. You have a purpose and a path that God has for you here on earth and your focas should be on that. It was a question I used to wonder about quit a bit too but now realize that, hey maybe the bible is not right in it's entirety and I need to follow my own heart and let my spirit guide me.
