Why? When I was about your age I got an American Express card, but it was mainly to boost my ego. Most places do not exclusively take American Express. It is a good thing that you don't get into credit card debt, so be sure to always pay off your monthly bill in full. Credit card interest is terrible, and debt can balloon very quickly. If I were you, I would keep it simple. I personally use a Discover card whenever I can just to get the cash back bonus.

You can apply but having 2 credit cards doesn't mean you should run up balances on both of them. Use the cards but pay them off in full every month. You might want to use just one on a regular basis and keep the other for emergencies.

I wouldn't because I got one credit card and then another and then I had like 5. I was in over my head with debt. I had to pay them off and cancel my accounts. I now only have one and use it very rarely. Credit cards can get you in a lot of trouble. Be careful!
