Ok, so if i dont talk to my friend over the phone or internet (I avoid it and say i'm too busy) but always look for their car and wave when they come to church (i'm a security guard) and would help them out if they are in danger or trouble (even if it's late at night or early in the day).. My family also wants nothing to do with them, and we talk almost never.. Is this true friendship? What is it??

No actually thats whats called an associate relationship, as in you only associate with them for one thing, in this situation its to help, good for you. That aside true friendships are actually the deepest of bonds, beyond pride right smack into the heart and soul of a person. It goes even beyond telling petty secerts to telling our feelings, ambitions, inseurities, and our hopes. Its comes down really to one important tool I use, honesty, true relationships are built on honesty, purpose, and commarade. Most people well never have them, well marry and die, have kiddos and never know what it was like to unburden yourself and feel for the frist time your not alone and were all equals. I hope you understand or someday do.

it doesn't sound like a friendship at all. usually a friend is someone you want around to talk to and be talked to. its nice that you would help them out, but that doesn't mean you are their friend. it sounds like your just acquaintances.
