The reason that a check engine light is blinking is because Cat damage can occur. Get you vehicle fixed quickly or you will run into a much larger repair if the catalytic converter is damaged.

When check engine light blinks: Damaged to engine or components. If you have codes P03XX those are misfire codes. A misfire can be caused by several causes, must common is ignition misfire. If spark plug replacement did not fix it then check the rest of ignition system: ignition coil and wires.
If your vehicle is chevy you can see the misfire counts on the scanner display.

If the check engine light stays on and doesnt blink, it isnt very dangerous.. The car's computer system just detected a error code... However, if it is blinking, then your car is unsafe to drive and you should take it in asap...

dO A COMPLETE TUNE UP. mAKE SURE YOUR GAS CAP IS ALWAYS TIGHT. gIVE IT A LITTLE EXTRA TWIST AFTER YOU FILL UP WITH FUEL. iT COULD BE AN 0-2 SENSOR ALSO. ALL OF OUR TAXICABS IN OUR FLEET OF A HUNDRED VEHICLES USUALLY NEEDS THE GAS CAP TIGHTENED UP. THIS HAPPENED TO MY T-BIRD AND AFTER I STARTED TIGHTENING UP THE GAS CAP IT SEEMED FIXED. NO PROBLEMS I LEARNED THIS FROM A MECHANIC THAT I HAD WORKING FOR ME FOR MANY YEARS. BE CAREFUL HARD TO SAY WHAT WILL BE THE NEXT THING THEY TRY TO SELL YOU TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.
