This is a very interesting question Rana.
The soul is part of man who is a tripartite being. We have a physical body with the five senses to contact and be a part of this physical world. With our body we have body consciousness. Our gender is determined in this way.. be it male or female.
Our soul..the next part of our being and this part is not visible. It is made up of the Mind to comprehend...the Will to choose and the Emotions to feel and experience things. We have Self consciousness via this faculty.
And deeper still in man there is the human spirit which is probably the most interesting, yet most misunderstood part of man's being. It is the human spirit that is made to match God who is Spirit. In and with our spirit we worship God and are able to communicate with Him. When one is a christian, the spirit is the part of us that is regenerated with the Life of God and its from this spirit that God has a starting point to transform all the other parts of our being.
So to ask whether the soul is a she or a he is truly interesting. The soul feels...it considers...it chooses and this is expressed through the body. If you are female you would would most certainly match you physically. The thing about the soul is that even though it matches the physical body does not mean that you cannot be a man who is emotional and sensitive...or a woman who is objective and strong. Our souls adjust and are shaped according to what we face physically and psycologically.
God made us in a particular way and the two genders working in harmony in the physical, psycological and spiritual realm is a thing of poetry.
But just food for thought
According to the bible both males and females are considered the "many sons of God' ( male)
Yet the Lord has been betrothed to the Church so she is His Bride. ( female)

I am not very sure, the soul is our inner being, I think if u are a female so is your soul, but I have heard that our soul has no gender too, I will have to ask mature christians about this first, will give u a better answer then.

Hi Rena,
A soul is a soul. We don't say that's a male soul or a female soul. However, we say" let us pray for the soul of John, Noño, Vanni, Mary, etc. . You don't identify them as such when they have already departed. It is the spiritual part of the man separated from his body and therefore no gender to identify.
Soul is a soul.

Hi Rena, again I am stumped, this is just my opinion OK! I think a soul that belonged to either gender, would most likely still be that gender, this is why: considering maybe souls and spirits are the same thing, and if hauntings and apparitions were real, these so called apparitions always appear in their human form, so if they were either gender, then they would appear in that gender form, therefore they can't be both. I hope this makes sense, I watch a lot of ghost stuff with my daughter and whether it's real or not, it would be my best guess.

A soul does not have matter. It's a form of energy. It cannot be decribed on gender. It's like asking what hair color does heat have.
At least that is my belief.
If you are referring to an answer based on christianity. I think all souls would probably be male. Since the bible tells us it was man that was shaped in the image of the lord. Women was a after thought to serve as a companion, and created from a rib. Paraphrased from Genesis, i believe chapters 2-3

The soul is the inner core of our self
it is surrounded by layers of self
Physical is the primary layer that surrounds us
our physical pains and lusts will reflect in this layer
mental is the layer of our thoughts and our experiences
our prejudices and our tastes
the emotional is the layer underneath that
raw emotions hate love rage
after those are stripped away
you have the final layer that God placed
there... the life that was breathed into us
is formed from part of the spirit of GoOoD
so to answer that question
we are both male and female yet neither
holding the potential to be just as
our GoOoD is
strip away our outer layers and we look pretty much
the same inside

The body attached to the soul is what creates the gender.
Before the soul is joined with the body it doesn't have points of reference to "Label" and identify with gender issues. After the soul unites with the body is when a gender becomes a perminate part of the soul. After the body is gone, the soul will still identify with the gender of it's past experience.

i think a soul is neutral. i would explain this a bit. the difference in the behavior between male and females....i mean not the gross ones but the subconcious ones...especially when it relates to such qualities like sense and sensibility.....are really a product of our cultural setup. a disaster hurts a man as much as a woman...but the man has been programmed from his birth not to cry.....if u think really carefully u will see what divides us....its nothing but the body and the manufatured mind....to fit in the amazing mosaic of society. a soul is free from both these constraints...so it has to be neutral....

A soul is attached and linked to a body on a temporary basis. While this attachment exists, the soul shares the attributes of the body. When the connection is severed by bodily death the attributes persist until the soul is connected to a new body.
