You may want to have a repairman take a look at it first, but it sounds like you are headed toward a new dryer. Are you overloading, do you keep your lint traps free, are you mixing loads? All things that could slow it down but since your heavier jeans are drying and your lighter items aren't, it probably is the dryer itself. My old dryer took forever to dry clothes but I had it for years. My new dryer takes so little time and everything is dried quickly.

If you are cleaning the lint trap EVERY time you reload, check to see if there is a blockage in the vent, follow it all the way to the outside.
Since you stated you have the same problem when you use different dryers, could it be your sorting habits? (As it is with my daughter) Don't expect a pair of socks to be dry at the same time as, say a pillowcase...try to dry similar fabricks together
Hope this helps...you deserve to have warm socks AND a nice warm towel...Cheers!

Is your air vent on the dryer clogged or unhooked?
Do you notice your house gets really warm when you have your dryer on?
You might not have it hooked up correctly, I have a nylon sock over the end of mine (our air duct in our house is clogged up with birds nests) and it works fine. I also point a fan toward the dryer so that it's not sucking up the same damp air, and it makes the clothes dry faster
Or maybe theres something wrong with the dryer, the heating element might be out. Does your clothes seem warm when you check on them, or does the dryer itself seem like its getting warm?

Sounds like a broken dryer to me.... Make sure the lint trap is clean and that heat is actually getting in to the clothing. Socks and boxers should be the first things to dry... Jeans should take the longest.

you may need to vacuumm out the tumbler and cage of your dryer. It may have an excess of lint built up so the moisture cannot escape. try cleaning out the tube exiting the dryer, and make sure the lint screen pocket is good and clean. If that doesn't help, you may need a new thermostat, or a new dryer. a thermostat is much cheaper, and most people can replace it without much of a problem. I have replaced two in my dryers.

Check your dryer hose....maybe there is a hole in it. When you open the dryer can you even feel the heat? Are you drying it on high heat or air...make sure it's set on high heat. Also...are your socks in a ball when you take them out of the dryer? Make sure they are completely unfolded when you stick it in there to begin with. I hope some of these suggestions help. Good Luck!

I had a similar problem and cleaned the whole vent system and put new ducting on and in about 5 mins it worked tons better. Mine had a hole in it so all the hot air was just being trapped behind the dryer...That would be my first guess

Call me old fashioned, but why don't you let your clothes dry naturally? Just hang them up - outside if you can on a nice day, or inside on an airer or hangers. On a sunny day they will be dry outside in less time than in a working dryer. Indoors it only takes a day or so.
Best of all, it is completely free!

feels like the heating going out. examine to make certain the drum is popping while on. I had that situation final week, had to take each and every thing out till it would turn and then load it returned. If the drum isn't turning, that could be a belt, and the clothing would desire to in basic terms be drying from the warmth yet no longer the tumble. sturdy success.
