We have a modified democracy for our political system and a modified capitalistic/socialistic system for our economy. When Republicans have greater influence, there is less socialism and more capitalism. When Democrats are able to exert greater influence, the level of socialism rises. Our system works to the extent that we are able to avoid extremes. The danger lies in giving too much power to any one of the three groups that are supposed to keep each other in check.

We didn't learn from France. Its not that I can't respect socialists, its just that it has too many problems to be practical. In france they have 2 or 3 deadly riots a year from minorities. They also have extreme problems with productivity, because it is very difficult to fire even someone that refuses to do any work, and if they are fired the government supports them for a long time. While its a nice idea it just isn't practical for running a government in the long run.

If the US became completely socialist, I'm pretty sure I'd spend a lot less time trying to make money for me and my family, settle in, go with the flow, and let the government take care of me.
I'd be sad for my daughter and any children she may have, because the original US is a great place to live, and they'd miss the experience.

What do you mean if usa becomes a socialist country? where have you been? don't they take money from one group and give to another? don't they consider people's property in many areas community property? when I fill out my tax forms for property my property is listed as community property, that means I don't totally own it.
I would have to go to court to get it back as private property. that would be a total messy thing. socialism is based on the idea that wealth must be shared in common and that if you have more others who have less have a right to it, directly or indirectly. they call it community responsiblity. It means I am responsble for helping others out by force (taxation) emient domain without just compensation.
that is not all but what I could think of off hand.

I'd be thrilled, if it is libertarian socialism - or worried, if it is state socialism (but not much more worried than by the present crony capitalism).
Right now, the United States doesn't have the strong unions, community organizations, etc. which are needed to work around capitalism as well as build socialism. It will take years of hard work to build these.

Many of the institutions taht make up the U.S. are already somewhat socialist. The public school system, the ,ilitary, and public health are examples of socialism. FEMA is a somewhat socialist organization that works for everyone, equally. Government of the people, for the people, by the people is a socialist ideal.
I think the failure of communism is that it was instituted in totalitarian nations. Socialism works well in a free, democratic society.

I think people would have no reason to work as hard as they do. If our government became Socialist, then they would get all the money we make, and then distribute the "funds" to help us. If that happened...workers wouldn't have an incentive to work hard, because they wouldn't be getting any of the money...directly. I wouldn't like it...that's for sure...

I guess the most accurate (if noncommittal) way I could answer that is by saying that it depends on what kind of socialist country it became. If it were to become Stalinist, I'd take up arms to try to overthrow the government. But there are some elements of socialism that are quite productive and beneficial.

the U. S. already has socialist components. Do you have Social protection? Medicare or Medicaid? Do you bypass to a public library? Do you have firemen and females safeguard fires, the police and militia to guard you? Do you bypass to the positioned up workplace? that is all "socialism".

The rich would refuse to follow a purely socialist system. They have nothing to gain under one, and everything to lose. You'd create another civil war here.
