I believe her name was Lisa. She fell head-first and kept slipping deeper and deeper as they tried to rescue her. Lots of large machinery was brought in as they dug down beside the well. When they finally reached her, she was dead. This incident happened 40-55 years ago.

I remember hearing about a story about a little girl that fell down a well, but it didn't happen 40-55 years ago. It was more like 20-25 years ago. I don't know if you're referring to the same girl or not, but her name was Jessica McClure. She survived after being trapped in the well for 4 days.

Her first name was Jessica. I don't remember her last name, but she is around my age which is around 25-35, and she is now married. But no, it didn't happen 40-55 years ago. It happened in the 80s because I was in like first or second grade when it happened.

I believe those answering Jessica McClure are correct. I found a lengthy list of accidents involving children and adults falling down abandoned wells but couldn't find anything dating back to 1952-1967 (the time frame you thought it was).
