My hubby and I are considering a move to Denver. We now live in an upper-middle class suburb in northern california. What are the best areas to raise a family in Denver? Greenwood Village was our first thought, but there aren't many kids. We would prefer a neighborhood with lots of little ones, (ours is 2) no crime, and good schools nearby. I would prefer something farther from downtown, so we don't have to deal with the noise and traffic. Thanks!

I know Greenwood Village has few kids because my hubby's aunt lives there. I'm thinking that Stapleton might be our best bet.

Also, we currently live in a fairly "rich" neighborhood, and there are plenty of kids.

How about because these other neighborhoods exist elsewhere, for half the price of ours. We're not changing it, it's alredy been changed.

Check out Highlands Ranch. It has one of the highest median incomes in the country.

School report cards are available online. Just type in "Colorado School Accountability Report"

Various school districts have different options for gifted children, so be careful with that. Jeffco school district pulls gifted children into certain classrooms in certain schools, so you may end up doing a lot of driving if those schools are not your home school. Cherry Creek has one poorly located gifted school. I don't know what it does with the remaining kids. Littleton only has pull out classes. Highlands Ranch operates like Jeffco.

Some school districts are mixed in quality, so be careful where you locate. Mixed school districts are focused on the no child left behind issues.

Greenwood Village is OK. I'm not sure how you know it has few kids. University Hills has many gated neighborhoods if you truly want very low crime. But, in rich neighborhoods, you just don't see many kids playing outside.

One thing to think about is that Denver traffic is bad. You'll want to live reasonably near work.

Cheery creek is a great neighborhood but there isn't alot of kids Highlands Ranch is pure suburbia very callie like but as far as not dealing with all the traffic it does snow here so you can except to spend many hours on the freeway

I have an idea, since you want to live in a "rich" neighborhood, with no crime,no traffic, no noise, but where there are kids, why not stay where you are. I'm tired of people (especially from California) wanting things to be like what they are leaving. Why not let Colorado be Colorado instead of changing it to what you come from.
