Ok the HISTORICAL TRUTH WHETHER I GET THE BEST ANSWER OR NOT. He drove a 1956 Ford and used the K-2. He also used the #88 on an Oldsmobile in 1957.--He also used the # 31 on a gray 1964 Ford Galaxie with a black top with red letters and numbers.--He also used the same year #54 on a 1964 ford galaxie a solid red car with white ans gray numbers and lettering. Hope this helps. I am not a know it all just a 40 year Nascar fan. Plus the already mentioned #8 which was his most recently used number he used

Ralph raced the 8
He only raced the 88 in one race... at Martinsville in 1957, when he was driving for Petty Enterprises.

#88 for one season ('57 I think it was) and #8 the rest of his career. Well, at least Junior got a number his grandfather used since his father's has been retired from NASCAR after his death.

His first car was a '56 Ford Victoria, K-2was painted on the side. He had 12 wins with his Monte Carlos from '95 to 2000.From '84-'88 , he had 25 wins with the Monte Carlos. I had a delightful (if you like speed) ride with a pro driver in a Monte Carlo. That is some car! Yowza!! That sucker can spin around a corner, rev up all you like, the seats are good. I love it!

Just read it in the paper-88. I never knew that and I've followed NASCAR since it was real racing.
