I've learned to live with the TV on *much* more often than I'd prefer, & usually plan meals around what my SO feels like having which means I can go without my faves for weeks @ a time. I've accepted the fact that I'll *always* need to follow him around & pick up his empty soda cans etc.
He has accepted that I love animals & actually has learned to enjoy our multi-species family, & although he doesn't really like driving he'll take me on errands when it's impractical to go by myself. Also, I'm not sure if this would classify as a compromise, but he stopped eating meat (his own decision) during our 1st year together.

Whoever drives has control of the radio and CD player. He tortures me with Willie Nelson and Shania Twain, and I make him throw up with Tool and Type O Negative. LOL
