I believe that it is set up so some unemployed attorney can make a living. Without marriage and then divorce how would they get that new boat?

marriage is NOT a joke.It is a commitment between a man,a woman and God.Women do not lose their identities when they marry.I don't know where you get this from.Marriage is a beautiful thing. My first marriage of 25 yrs ended because my ex husband cheated. That did not change my views on marriage. All men do not cheat. There are a lot of women that cheat also,it is not just a male thing.I am married now for the second time.I pray that this one will last till death due us part.those bridezillas spend to much time concentrating on the wedding. The wedding is not important,It is the marriage that is important.

Everything has its pros and cons.

Sharing a life with someone has many advantages. As you get older, the continual not-really-knowing a person which is dating can get old. Eventually you settle into a person that is better than a roommate.

After that it might be as simple as marriage gives rights and tax breaks. It can suck to have such a close loved one end up in the hospital and be told "only family" as far as getting answers or having a say in their care.

A joke? A cliche'?

Not for the 50% of us who understand the meaning of real love and commitment.

Lose their identities? That's THEIR fault.

We've been happily married for just over 37 years and it's really not rocket science. It just takes some compromise and forgiveness and emotional maturity.

If people are just going to let their egos run wild and act like it's all about "me, me, me" instead of the relationship, then yeah, things are going to go down the drain.

I don't know what you're talking about... I'm married, and my identity is intact.

And it is those *watching* Bridezilla who are in need of getting a life... Go play outside.

If you look at it as a joke then it's a joke but if you at it as a lifetime commitment with the one you love and who truely love you then you can call it a marriage.

not all men cheat by the way. I am married and no matter how miserable my wife makes me I will always love her and be commited to her. I don't even lust after other women.
