I'm not sure if you've heard of this before, but I believe the appropriate phrase here is "making mountains out of mole hills." I'm not sure where this phrase originated, but it has been around while. Maybe you could google it and find out more.

In other words you tend to make the little things or petty issues (mole hills), into something bigger than they actually are (mountains).

Maybe just experiment and chill out the next time you feel like this.
