There is no new SOAD album. It's a solo album by their lead singer Serj Tankian. It will be called Elect the Dead, to be released on October 23, 2007.

The albums in order are System of a Down, Toxicity, Steal this Album, Mesmerize, and Hypnotize. After Ozzfest 2006, the band went on hiatus and there has been no real news from them since, except from solo albums from some members, directing from others, and a few other things that I can't remember right now. Malakian in Scars on Broadway and Tankin in his own solo work, Shavo in directing music videos.
Many rumors are going around that the band has broken up, but Serj Tankin (Sp?)(I think it was Serj) stated that you should not believe these rumors.
There is no actual system of a down album coming out any time soon, but Tankian's album, Elect the Dead is reported to be coming out on October of 2007. The first single from this album is said to be either Empty Walls or The Unthinking Majority.
Sure, it's not exactly SOAD, but I think it's work checking out.

Like the others said, it isn't system of a down's cd, it's Serj Tankian's that is coming out October 23rd. It sounds pretty amazing so far! Not system of a down, but still amazing.
