Pressed on whether he thought there was any risk of recession, Bush said: "You need to talk to economists. I think I got a B in Econ 101."

Absolutely not, because mosts A students are stuck up and think that the world should kiss their butts. You are asking a businessman and an administrator a detailed question about economics. That's like asking me a detailed question about military tactics. I have an idea, but you'd want to go talk to the generals.

If I want economic forecasts, I generally listen to economics experts, not politicians. And the experts are not in agreement regarding the economic future. The indicators are mixed.

Besides, what is Bush going to say, that he DOES think there will be a recession? That's no good. And if he says there is no risk, will the media believe him? It's lose-lose for him to answer it yes or no, so he deflected it. Shrewdly, too, IMO.

No, not at all. In fact, I think the people should have few restrictions upon who they want for representation.

To limit the candidate is to limit the people.

Besides, as far as specialized knowledge such as education goes, the president's cabinet covers that.

Not at all. Most education comes after a person finishes school. The truly ignorant are those who never learn anything useful after they graduate.

I know some A students who are book smart but dumb as hell when it comes to common sense. I think there are a lot of book smart people in congress.

No. Schools teach you how to memorize a book, not how to think. Grades are a very poor measure of how good somebody is at logical reasoning and decision making.
