Answers from both RP lovers and haters are welcome. Please note, I do hold the opinion that established powers are interested in silencing him. However, I don't view this scenario as likely.

Those of you who are arguing against the scenario are completely ignoring the question. You'd be answering a question like this:

"Do you think that it is plausible that the establishment might murder Ron Paul to silence him?"

To this, you would have been giving reasonable answers. As it is, you have shown that either your reading comprehension level is low or your zeal to diss Ron Paul is high.

Oh well, I guess that I did explicitly invite Ron Paul haters to answer. I still expect you guys to actually answer the question though.

On the other hand, answers from non-Ron Paul supporter such as Gavin C (apparently) and dizneyland fan are perfectly reasonable.

In any case, the point of the question is not to appear paranoid (though I'm sure some of you will have this impression). It is rather to probe to what extent efforts to silence him could actually make people stand up to take notice. [Obviously, murder is the extreme range of silencing tactics.]

Thanks for the thoughtful answers so far.

bluridgeliving:

I googled Paul Wellstone and found this piece on his death:

http://www.alternet.org/story/14399/

After reading it, I do remember the incident. I also remember that I didn't think twice about it. Of course, we don't know whether his death was truly accidental or was arranged. I do grasp (in retrospect) though the motivation that could have existed to murder him.

We don't have to naively accept any conspiracy theory. However, it would be much more naive (given the huge stakes in politics) to think that murder for political reasons wouldn't happen.

Good answer. Thanks!

I'm very curious. If you think that my question is silly, why did you star it?

Ask him to say "Hello" to Paul Wellstone.

The thought of that is always in the back of my mind and it really scares me. I don't know what I'd do, but I know if any of the candidates, with the exception of a couple, were elected, this country would be the same as it is now.
I believe most of the people on this forum are much younger than I, and weren't around 30 or 40 years ago, or don't remember how it was to live back then.
I remember waking every day and not worrying about the world being in such a horrible state. Things weren't perfect, but it wasn't scary as it is today.
It was possible to really enjoy life and not worry about being "politically correct" every time you spoke.
You could speak your mind without fear of being called names.
This country, the U S A, in which I grew up was much different than it is today.
We could have that country back if someone like Ron Paul were in charge.
Yes, I think it is plausible.

What a horrible scenario. This will never happen, although I am in full agreement. The mainstream media may not be publicly speaking about him but I can guarantee there's plenty of discussion about what to do with the phenomenon that is Ron Paul behind closed boardroom doors. They would like to see him shut up. Subscriptions to the Wall Street Journal have dropped and cancellations up!

To Dude: Are you a Hillary mole? Ron Paul is a Republican Candidate, dude.

Nothing. However the Secret Service will get an anonymous tip from an e-mail written by Lou Wynman of Lake Tahoe who wrote. "While still not likely to happen, since th establishment will likely murder
Dr. Ron shortly (& we know of no replacement for him), it is possible, if he
remains alive, that he could win due to ONE new factor in this election:
the Internet!"

well it would probably come from the rnc instead of the dnc, just like Malcolm x was assassinated from his old party

what did they say before they shot Malcolm " Keep your hands out of my pocket" even though they have there hands in our pockets

vote Ron Paul and vote 3rd party

time for a real change

definitely not a mole just speaking the truth

and im a libertarian and completely against how the republicans and Democrats have subverted our constitution all in the name of staying in power , and not leading America

Sally B im waiting to make a bumper sticker to say Ron would of changed it , for when nothing in this country has changed and both the Democrats and republicans keep lying to you and you are dumb enough to still believe them

unfortunately neither of us will have the last laugh it will be the powers that be , laughing at you and voters like you, they are doing it already

woo hoo we got 4 more years of crappy government but sally b got to tell some people she told you so

I'd pray for the family of Ron Paul and hope that the person responsible is caught, convicted and is sent to prison for the rest of his life.

The powers that be are interested in silencing him. Thats why all you hear about on the news is Hilary this Hilary that, Obama this Obama that etc. etc. etc. they are getting all the publicity, because that is who "they" want in the white house.

I am more worried about what will happen if Ron Paul Doesn't win the election.

The more important question is what would happen if he doesn't get elected...

Okay to answer your question then.. I would panic.. Ron Paul would have made a great president and if anything would have ever happened to him.. I would be at a loss of words... It would be a tragedy, but what could I do? As citizens we are so powerless.. I'd feel sorry for his wife and his family, and for all Americans bc we missed the chance of having an honest president...

My voting preference wouldn't change since I wasn't going to vote for Paul anyway.

It is very sad to think that someone would be killed. Every person, even when you disagree with them, does not deserve to be killed.

I'd go on with my life as if nothing significant had changed. That's like asking what I'd do if Carrot Top were assassinated. Ron Paul is totally irrelevant.
