Yes, he was a character on the 'Captain Kangaroo' show. I watched that show occasionally when I was in elementary school, and my kids watched it when they were in elementary grades too (they were homeschooled). I liked Mr. Green Jeans because he always 'explained' something about 'life' as real people live it and work it.

Yes! Believe it or not, Captain Kangaroo was the guest speaker at my college graduation (1985). Someone thought we would get a kick out of that.
