stretch marks are genetic and skinned type based.

i don't get them very bad at all...mine are very faint, you can barely see them. and as far as i can tell i only have 3. they aren't even an inch long. I'm at 37 wks. and VERY large. lol #4 baby. I've never really had many (if any) w/my pregnancies...
but i had a friend that started getting them the second she started showing and they were very thick, and from one end up her belly to the other.

like i said it's genetic and depends on how your skin handles the growth and stretching. I'd say if your at 29 and can't see any, you'd probably won't get "bad" ones at all. they DO fade w/time and lotions. but you can't prevent them, you either get them..or you don't.

I got them pretty much as soon as I found out I was pregnant which I was like a month along at that point. It seemed like they just showed up one day. They were horrible red marks that almost looked like flames all the way up my belly. The funny part though is that they actually started to be less visible towards the end of my pregnancy. I made sure to rub cocoa butter on everyday, I don't know if that did anything. My sister on the other hand just had a baby and she only got one stretch mark and you can't even tell its there. She used the cocoa butter too. I think the stretch marks depend on the individual. I hear though that the cocoa butter is good for preventing them and for making them not get worse.

I got stretch marks pretty early on. I got them every where, my tummy, my thighs and my breast too. They will start gradually, if you see some streaks you can lotion them up quite frequently and that should allow for a little more elasticity. Don't be surprised if you get them, a lot of women do, it is nothing to worry about. They will fade out, You can also try the new Maderma stuff if you get them, that supposedly will fade them out.

Just consider them signs of a great battle. You are now initated into the motherhood club. Only a select few get the battle signs!
I would not trade them in for anything in the world. they remind me of what I went through (and with my son, it was a lot). I am glad to have them. :0)

I'm 36 weeks and no stretchmarks. If they are hereditary then I have a good chance of having very little... My mom's tummy is mark free after 3 kids. My sister is the same way, there is some stretching but nothing major like red marks.

I thougth I was out of the clear with getting stretch marks, because my belly had been getting bigger for a while and none were popping up! Then around 31 weeks I started seeing the little hints of some coming! So now I have them only on either side of the belly button. I was sooo upset! I thought I was gonna be free of them! haha I mean, Im sure Ill live with them, but still! Good luck and I hope you avoid them!

Mine came gradually starting during the second trimester. Now that I've had my baby I can see them even better. I don't think you will wake up and they will be there..I started to get tiny little spots that looked like bruises..dark in color and round looking...that is what turned into my stretch marks. That would be great if you didn't get any...some people are lucky and they don't. Good Luck with everything...

I am one of the lucky ones. I have 4 kids and not one stretch mark. Not sure how I lucked out but I am happy I did. Hopefully you won't get any either. Not everyone does so just relax. There is nothing you can do to prevent it.

I never got any stretch marks until right before my son was born. Probably about 32 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, there are creams and treatments for marks that you can start using as soon as you give birth.

i got one about an inch long on the right of my belly at about 6 months along. then one morning i woke up at about 8 1/2 months along and BAM! I had alot of stretch marks all over the place! it's sad at first, but that's part of pregnancy. I even put lotion on every single day. if your mother had them, most likely you will too. alot of times, even if you don't get them your whole pregnancy...after you deliver you may also get them... you get them from either rapid weight gain or rapid weight loss. I've seen plenty of woman on the beach in their bikini's and I see that they have stretch marks but they are beautiful and having a baby is a beautiful thing and shouldn't hide the marks we get from it!
