Lincoln? Are you serious? He saved the country. Buchanan started it.

p.s. I know that eisenhower and kennedy were the ones who Started it, but under both of them, there wasn't a full scale war.

Johnson was absolutely horrible so I will go with him. His war on poverty was a pandering joke................

The Vietnam War started under Kennedy, not Johnson. The Vietnam War escalated under Johnson, but he did not start it. There was also a SEATO treaty that was in effect then. In terms of Americans dying, the Vietnam War was far worse than the one going on to day which was started by Osama.

Johnson because he could and wouldn't win. There was a draft, there was the liberal media only,A more popular anti-war movement. and moral issues in the military. Johnson also announced no second term so he quit also.
Bush will never abandon the troops. Lincoln did not either.

Johnson. He tried to run the war from the White House. He even had models of fire bases set up so he could direct the defense.

While Bush has not been the best, far more died under Johnson.

Johnson did not actually start the Vietnam war, though he sure did escalate it. Johnson had the courage to admit that he may have been wrong and did not seek re-election.
Bush not only started the war in Iraq but he lied to justify it. He has never admitted to making any mistakes, though the war has been a disaster.

Actually,I hate to admit it, Eisenhower was the one who signed the treaty with Vietnam to help them in their time of need, then it progressed into a police action under JFK and then progressed with the Vietnam Conflict under Johnson. it was never a War so history states.

So to your question,Neither were.

Neither of the US Presidents by the name of Johnson started any war. Lyndon expanded a war that was already started. So taking your question as stated that would be Bush.

Johnson didn't start the war, he just micro-managed it into the ground.

I would say Republican Bush. At least Democrat Johnson's War on Poverty was a redeeming feature of his presidency.
