(9-4)*4=20

I'm guessing that the x in your formula is multiply.

If solved as written (3X3 - 2X2) (X2 +2) the solution would be

5(X2 + 2). This is as far as we can go since there is no range of know qualities for X in the second set of parentheses.

Othewise if we solve it as you MAY have intended it would be

5 X 4 = 20

3x3=9-4=5x2=10x2=20
