God no!

The US has the most educated workforce, the most technologically advanced firms, the best schools (in most areas), and the largest R&D expenditures. No country can compete with us. It is worth giving up low margin, low tech industries to focus our resources where we have a comparative advantage and let everyone else pick over the bones of the opportunities that we have already picked apart.

The reason we aren't an industrious nation anymore is because our labor costs too much, our standard of living is too high, and our currency is worth more than current "industrious nations" such as china and indonesia.

Basically most business can't compete here, they can't turn a profit.

There has to be a good balance. Our economy is getting worse now the more the free market is meddled with.

perhaps, but think about how that would effect everyday life! i'm sure that the quality of living would decrease, and there would probably be so many issues with the "rich" and the "poor".... just try and picture everyone today living back in the time of the industrial revolution, would you want to??
