I've always noticed that on a standard siren bar light on top of a police car it's usually red on the left side driver's side and blue on the passenger's side. I've always thought that red and the heart is on the left side and blue like in the American Flag stands for Justice. Please someone help me.

Lights are different depending on where you live.
I have seen red used for police.
In N.Y., I saw red and blue.
Where I live, red is fire and ambulance(rescue) only and blue is police only. Green is college campus security and mall security.

Think you're reading to much into it. I believe it's standardized so that at a distance you can tell the direction of travel. Towards or away.. Red is on the left side of other vessels and aircraft for navigation. This may have carried over.
