I hate housework, too. So, to avoid doing it, I avoid making a mess in the first place. Getting undressed? Put the dirty clothes directly into the hamper. Making a sandwich, wash the knife off immediately after using it, dry it an put it away. The same with the plate. Same with beverage glasses. Do not allow anything to sit in the sink. Do not leave anything behind.
I have gotten really good at it. There are really only two choices (unless you have servants) let the housework pile up until it is an enormous task that will interfere with other activities or clean as you go.
Take a shower? Wipe the shower and facets down with the towel right after you dry yourself. Then hang the towel to dry. Use the commode? Keep wet naps handy and wipe down the rim and seat then flush the towelette away.
Have a towel heading for the laundry? Use it to dust on your way. After a while it becomes second nature and you barely realize you are doing it. Your house always stays relatively clean and is presentable if someone pops over.
Oh, yeah! Make the bed as soon as you get out of it (providing no one else is in it) even before going to the bathroom. It is also a good idea to use big fluffy comforters instead of blankets or bedspreads that require a lot of tucking in.

Oh girl! I know how you feel! The problem is, is if you have too much to do, you get overwhelmed, and do NOT want to do it, because it is such a hassle! I just started doing this, and it is AWESOME!! I made myself a routine, go to http://housework.1colony.com/main.html Make yourself a routine, and make it SMALL jobs, like wipe counters, load dishwasher, unload dishwasher, do load of laundry...ect. Now, when you make this list, get a nice cup of coffee, and plan the routine around what you do in life. Imagine how nice it will feel when the house is how you would like it, and how doing just small chores everyday will keep it clean! Join places like, flylday.com, wh email motivationa emails, and I am a part of cleanstart yahoo group. Just know there will be times where you will not want to do anything, and when that happens to me, I say "Ok, I can wash my counter, that is like 10 seconds, then I will watch my show". If you are like me and need to do major cleaning, you have two options, you can do your main rooms right now and just start working on the zones as they come around everyweek (you will see more when you click on that link). OR you can do some major cleaning by getting a trash bin, a laundry basket, and a box for items that don't belong in the room you are working on. When you go into the room, set a timer for 15 minutes, ye 15 minutes. Set it...and GO! throw things in the needed boxes/baskets, and do not stop when you get to a piles of papers, put that in a certain spot, you can go through that in front of the tv or somthing (cause you will get lost for HOURS looking at papers, magazines, catalogs, ect. lol). Then with the 15 minutes are done, look at what you have done, and either set the timer again, or take a 10 minute break...but before you take a break, take care of that box with the stuff that does not belong in that room, and put it in its place. I do this 15 minute trick in my office, to clear my desks, they get pretty bad!! lol GOOD LUCK!!

I know how you feel. some days I just don't feel like doing housework. Today was one of those days in fact. What I do is watch TV, then when the commercials come on I clean what I can until the show comes back on. This is how I do the dishes, vacuum, stuff like that. It's kind of like my reward for cleaning is I get to go back and watch whatever show I'm watching until the commercials come back on. Then I'm up and at it again! Who wants to sit and watch commercials anyway? You'd be surprised how much you get done during the commercials.

I know what you mean.. I find that routine helps A LOT !
When I get up in the morning: I'll wipe down the bathroom with antibacterial wipes... (countertops, sink, toilet) I'll spray the tub/tile surround with 50/50 bleach water and let the sit.. Clean the mirror. I move on to the kitchen- make kids breakfast, unload/load dishwasher and wipe down countertops/appliances.... Dust/vacuum livingroom while the kids are eating.. Clean up the children- wipe down high chairs.. Take dirty clothing downstairs.. Sort/start laundry.. .Make beds.. The kids toys get cleaned up at night before bed.. They help... Other than that I can't help you.. good luck

Think about the rewards once it's done. You will have piece of mind and not be embarassed when company comes over. I'm sure that you don't like living in a mess that is disorganized. That should be motivation enough.

Pick up after yourself. Clean while you go. Take 5 minutes to clean as fast as you can...pretend your in high school and your parents are coming home early from their weekend!
Dress up in a french maid outfit and ask you husband/boyfriend to help you clean. You will be surprised just how much they are willing to clean!!

My motivation is I don't like my guests to say I am a slob. I also don't like to live in a "pigsty". A clean and uncluttered house reflects a clean and uncluttered mind. Your house is your castle. If your castle is like a rubbish dump, then you are a garbage dump princess. People who clean their houses take pride in their property and themselves.

You could pretend you're trying for the lead role in Mary Poppins...(lol)...I know - it's so hard to get motivated...I usually just think of what it will look like if I DON'T do it - that's enough to get me going!
