Freedom of speech (and therefore thought)?
Wrong, they have numerous Hate "Thought" Crimes laws. Some municipalities, such as San Diego, are trying to legislate political correctness.
Right to Keep and Bear Arms?
Wrong, they have very restrictive gun control laws and extreme penalties for the most trivial violations.
Justice under the law?
They put away a guy for Life for stealing a slice of pizza. It was his "third strike" under California's draconian Three Strikes laws. In California, they punish not just the crime, but the nature of the person. This guy is serving life not for the slice of pizza, but because California thinks they cannot reform him. We are supposed to punish folks for specific infractions, not for a brand or label we place upon their personalities.
Whatever you say about California, "freedom" is the last word I'd use to describe it.
California does have money, but so would any state with 1,500 miles or so of coastline open to the Pacific Ocean.
Sex? Well, in California, if it's an orifice, it's fair game. From what I hear. Maybe that's their truest freedom and should somehow be worked into their state slogan or as an emblem to their state flag.
Arrogance? Definitely, the most arrogant state in the union.

The east coast has the original 13 colonies that fought for our freedom from England. I thought New Jersey had the best economy, so maybe Cali can be number one in sex & adventure but I bet Los vegas will argue that they are.
Maybe California needs less bragging and more school work?

We are #1? I didn't know that. I think I'll throw an open-bar party....conservatives need not show up. Even though we have a silly actor, acting as Governator, we are a blue state!
