I had the "dots" background, but the lettering was difficult to see. I went with the blogger "simple 2" template. Is it too dull? Thanks for your comments.

It's a bit garish: it kind of screams or yells at the reader with the print so large (at least on my browser, with the way I have my computer set up and all that...)

Blogger has lots of plain ol' setups...you don't have to go with purdy pictures in the background! Just pick up a plain two-column arrangement like, with your main content on the left, say, and your profile and links on the right, then go fetch a color theme and mess with colors (as I recall you can do).

And if you're REALLY adventurous you can go into "edit layout" and "edit html" (heh heh, like I did...and "expand html widgets...) and mess with the css stylesheet of your template and REALLY mess with ALL the individual colors all the heck over your blog!

Enjoy!

Yes, it's really dull. Why don't use Minima Dark or Minima Blue? I also like Minima Lefty and TicTac .

It is, but boring can also be effective, a blog does not need to be glamorous, its a blog, it needs to be effective. If i am reading a blog, that is what I am worried about, can I read it, which in your case, I can especially with the large font size, which is also better to suit a wide audience who may not always have the best vision.
