I think everyone that posted a response to this should look at the website for the United States Department of Justice and look at the statistics of violent crimes by race, age, victim, city and etc. What you discover will open your eyes as to who commits more crimes. See for yourself, statistics do not lie.
Here is a small example: Between 1976-2005, blacks made up 13% of the US population, but committed 59% of felony murders. Overall, blacks are 9 times more likely to commit murder than whites.

It's not a "black" thing. It's common to every culture, race and ethnicity. Some incidents are just more publicized than others, which may be why you've come to your conclusion.
Trust me, violence is just as prevalent among whites, hispanics and asians as it is among blacks. It just depends on the individual and their environment.
In all honesty, the people that immediately resort to violence are usually (not always) ignorant, easily provoked, or mentally unstable.
Sometimes, however, it's just a matter of someone being pushed over the edge. Take the Jena thing, for instance. According to various sources, a certain group of white kids made a point of 'claiming' a certain tree on campus for whites-only. They picked on non-whites, beat them up, and generally acted like typical schoolyard bullies.
One black kid sat under their tree, and one of the kids thought it would be funny (or be a good threat) to hang nooses from the tree.
So the already-edgy black kids see the nooses, make the logical connection, and fly off the handle. They swing first, which was wrong - but they did it in response to racially-charged provocation. And they are still minors, and can't be expected to respond to such situations as an adult should.
I do think that if the Jena 6 are found guilty of anything, it should be assault, as minors. The attempted murder charge is ridiculous. Even moreso after one of the attacked students was released from the hospital the same day; he wasn't in life-threatening condition after all, it seems
.
As for the white kids, whose parents didn't teach them that racism is ignorant? They should be expelled and put into mandatory counselling, at the very least.
**Before the usual flaming starts, I want to make it clear that I would have the same opinion if the roles were reversed. Racism is stupid, and so is throwing the first punch. I don't blame them, though, since they're only kids. They can't be expected to respond like an adult would. I wish the Jena 6 the best in the days to come.**

I believe that is a stereotype not all black people attempt to resolve their disagreements with violence. That is an ignorant way of thinking. Some black people I know have a lot of attitude but that's cause they are raised not to put up with crap. It a cultural thing and you have to respect it. You should not fear what you do not understand. Treat them like you would anybody else. Black people can say things about whites or any other races. Every race has their own way of being but its not our place to label.

Blacks aren't the only ones.
My friend (black) and I broke it down the other day.
ALL humans at some point, are prone to react with violence. It's just the type of violence that categorizes us.
One day I went through those listed on death row. Did you know that almost all of the races fell into these categories:
Most Hispanics had killed using a knife.
Most Blacks had killed using guns.
Most Caucasians had killed in some messed up way.
I'm not stereotyping, I proved it by reading records. I wonder why that is???

'Black' is not a culture, it's a race. Why does anybody resolve their disagreements by the use of violence? Your question doesn't make sence.

the correct way to frase that question would be "Why do SOME black people attempt to resolve their disagreements through violence?"
it is really rasict for u to say "black people often" as if we ALL act like that...
and your question is the equvilant to "Why is it that White people are usually so greedy?" does that offend you? Because your question offended me

Violence is not a racial issue. I was married to a white man who resorted to violence whenever he got angry and/or drunk (which is why he is my "ex-husband"). I am now married to a black man who would never lay a hand on me in anger!!!

well first off your probably pretty much isolated from the rest of the world or you'd know that every being has the ability to act violent when provoked..you have to stop being so absent and narrow minded...look around you...this world isn't just filled with whites
