Besides silly stuff like yahoo answers is it really that neccessary? Could you live without it? (Unless you use it for work).

Good question!! I suppose it is necessary for typing documents such as cover letters of various sorts, creating resumes, printing envelopes, designing greeting cards, writing teacher notes (yeah, I'm a bit of a perfectionist), making mailing labels and stuff like that. When you eliminate the internet stuff (including email) that we use it for, there's not much left!

i could do without a tv but i cant do without my cpu.I had to go the public library for a week while i was trying to get my old cpu fixed.Eventually I said forget this and went to Best Buy and got a brand new one.

I COULD NOT DO WITH OUT IT. I DO MY MONTHLY AND YEARLY BUDGET ON MY COMPUTER PAY BILLS LOOK UP COMPANIES TO MAKE SURE THEIR FOR REAL AND I DO ALL OF MY HOMEWORK ON COMPUTER AND I HAVE 3 ONLINE CLASSES. NOT TO MENTION RESERVATIONS, EMAILS, THINGS I DO FOR WORK. YES MY COMPUTER IS VERY NECESSARY. COULD NOT LIVE WITH OUT AS A MATTER OF FACT NEED A NEW ONE SOON.

extremely useful for email and looking all kinds of things up quickly, it replaces the encyclopedia and dictionary and a lot of other reference books

Yeah. I use it to look stuff up on dictionary.com, wikipedia, check my bank account, and using the calculator.
