Did you then stop trusting people?

It happened to me.

Yes. It made me more cautious, but I'm naturally a trusting person, though I can also be rather cynical and mistrustful at times. My favorite quote by Maya Angelou is usually true, although there are always exceptions--"When someone shows you who they are the first time...believe them." But I'm also a believer in second chances. Sometimes that comes back to bite me too! LOL

Happens all the time to me. The moreso because all fat, white guys with beards look alike. But yeah, when I'm falsely accused, I never trust those people again.

It was worse back on the '80's, before I grew the beard. Cops were always stopping me because I looked familiar. They were apologetic, but I could tell that they were nervous too. Turns out I was a dead ringer for John Wayne Gacy. And I've never even lived in a place with a crawlspace.

If I had a dime for everytime that I was accused of doing something that I didn't do, I'd be a very rich person by now. LOL. I haven't stopped trusting folks however I DO make sure that folks know when, where, and HOW i get the things that I do get.

When I was in high school, I was accused of stealing a pair a shoes from the girls locker room during gym class. Funny thing about it, I wasn't at school on the day that I was suppose to have stolen the shoes. They later caught the thief but I never did receive an apology from the person that accused me.

Yes, and I learned from it that the only correct reaction is to immediately punch the guy out, even if he's a cop. Otherwise, nobody will ever believe you, even if you are known as an honest, even tempered person and really don't care enough about the subject to be worth doing violence.

Yes, when I was shopping at an aquarium store and I was writing some prices down, being a consumer shopper, and the owner accused me of being a spy for his competitor, to get the information so they could lower their prices accordingly.

I was so insulted I wrote to the owner telling him I would never shop there again unless I got a written apology. I didn't.

I never trusted that man again, but my loss of trust in specific individual generally results from them letting me down or breaking their word.

Yes recently at work. I stopped trusting the person immediately. She accused me behind my back as well. She seemed such a nice person. She's anything but. That's life!

Yes, I was falsely accused of stealing Birtha Githmeyer's dentures at Shadey Pines. They are actually still biting the corn on the cob she threw away.
