How long is it safe to leave a computer on without shutting it off? is that safe? or does it kill it's lifespan, like it has a set number of breaths? What's the longest some of you kept your computer running continuously?

Leaving a computer running will not harm it. They are designed to run 24/7 if needed. I have a couple of computer that I use as servers which have been running non-stop since the late 90's. The major "danger" with leaving one on is that in an electrical storm or black out it could take a "power spike" which might damage it.

Turning a computer off and on also does not harm it. It also have save as much as $30 a month in power bills if the computer and monitor or NOT left running 24/7. It also reduces the ability of someone to hack your computer or infect it with a virus. They can't do that if it is off.

My usuallu recommendation is that if you will be away from the computer or more then 2-3 hours, turn it off and save money. If you do decide to run it 24/7, seriously consider rebooting it once a week. There are certain maintence things (temp files, memory clears, update installs, etc) that only happen during a shut down and start up that are needed to keep a computer running right.

If you are running windows i would reccomend a restart every few days... Windows can be rather unstable especially with a lot of processes which build up running in your background... if you need the machine dedicated... get ubuntu.

Leaving your computer on all the time doesn't hurt it. As long as the computer has adequate ventilation and doesn't overheat, it won't cause it any harm.

I've kept my computer running constantly for as long as six months.
