My best bet would be to get away from the crowd first because safety in numbers isn't going to work, it's just going to make you a bigger target.
I'd find the nearest department store and hide behind the customer service desk, there's never anyone there (even the tripods know that) so I'll be safe.
I will pass the time painting my nails and talking to myself until all the carnage outside comes to an end.
There's room under the desk for you but you must bring cigarettes.

I'd probly pull out my tripod and paint them some pictures. Maybe the peaceful use of a tripod would convert them.

Hey Little trees nothing to worry...
As the situation would be similar, so the odds will be similar and hence , I would behave in similar manner. And since the situation would be similar so would be the outcome..Earthlings will be saved, because those aliens will no survive in our atmosphere..
In fact no alien will ever survive in our world..this world ,that we have shaped now, is not even conducive to us, how come they will survive..eh?

Well, I would run away, and think to myself, "Wow, this all seems very familiar...." Then an alien would probably drink my blood and use me as fertilizer. I am not good at hiding from things.
