The noose incident was just one in a string of incidents that led to the current protests.

And he wasn't beat up that bad, he was at a school function that same night.

The noose hanging incident occurred about a year ago, early into Jena (Louisiana) high school opening, a day after a black student asked school administrators if he could enjoy shade from the sun at the tree site---purportedly a popular teen hangout (no pun intended) by white students.

It's been whispered in Jena that the tree matter was a scapegoat for long held racial grudges. The white students involved in the noose hanging were caught and suspended. This did not sit well with offended blacks. Days later, a small part of the school's administrative building was torched.

The "Jena 6" beating happened about 4 months later.

Witnesses contend the six BLACK students randomly selected a single WHITE student and blew out months of pent up rage; other witnesses allege racial slurs were spoken between the black students and white victim seconds prior.

The "Jena 6" were arrested, jailed and originally charged with 2nd degree attempted murder. However, due to the "Jena 6" being juveniles, the attempted murder charges were tossed out and five of the "Jena 6" were set free; one remains in jail. All six have been NOW charged with 2nd degree battery, a more appropriate charge. "Hate crime" has NOT been mentioned here....and blacks in Jena want to keep it that way, for understandable reasons.

Jena DA is now explaining to a inquiring judge why the remaining "Jena 6" inmate, Mychal Bell, has not yet been released.

Blacks in Jena strongly feel all "Jena 6" should be excused and found innocent; it's OK that they let pent up rage go unleashed on a white student---because of the noose hanging matter!! Blacks in Jena don't understand why the white noose hanging students weren't arrested and the six black students were.

The Law, however, says six students beat up one student---and justice must be meted out....but you can't get that through to the blacks in Jena--they refuse to understand.

Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton and Jesse Jackson rushed to aid "Jena 6" in show of support and to organize a massive black person march in Jena. The Law in Jena is NOT impressed or intimidated.

Early in the march, media exposure on the Tawana Brawley matter, which happened 21 years ago, came up---and Jesse moved far far away from Sharpton. One can only speculate why. Do a Yahoo or Google search on Tawana Brawley incident, and you'll likely find the answer why.

A few months, maybe a year ago...."The Jena 6"..sounds
like a title to a video game..business owners in Jena lost
a golden opportunity to take in the 'green' by closing their doors that day...the 'protesters' didn't come to riot...they
came to protest what they saw as unfair treatment and
they would have spent their money just to be part of it...
....the history making moment...

It happened around a year ago and the protest is not about them going to jail. It's about FREEING them.
