For instance, with the "Jena 6" stuff going on in Louisiana, the white townspeople said the boys who put nooses on the tree were doing it as a "joke" and it ended up being "blown out of proportion".
I fail to see the humor of empty nooses being hung.

I totally agree. This is not funny at all. I just read up on the case a little on wikipedia. Wasn't quite familiar with it completely, but I said it out loud "Jena 6" and my 14 year old daughter looked at me quickly. Turns out that it has reached the ever growing and impressionable minds of her high school here in Raleigh, North Carolina and there was some backlash going on in the school this week.
I don't find it funny that students no matter what color you are cannot go to school and feel safe and do what they are suppose to do - learn!
Me - being a pacifist in nature - feel that all parties should be put in a corner. There were inciting incidents on both sides, I believe - if I read it correctly. And I find it less unfunny that we are in the 21st century and there is still this division among people.
How about the white people in West Virginia that kidnapped the 20 year old black woman and beat her and did unspeakable things to her?
I'm white. So what... more importantly - I have shame and compassion and love for others. What the heck people???
P.S. Empty nooses are not covered under freedom of speech and expression. The Constitution does not protect inciting incidents.

But I agree with you about the Jena 6 "the nooses were a joke in poor taste thing". When you don't punish behavior like that, you are really condoning that behavior. I watched something yesterday on this and a townsperson from Jena says "I don't think kids really understand what nooses mean today anyhow". Ummm - I'm white and from the north and I know what it means when a noose is hung from a tree!

As soon as I saw the question Jena 6 came to mind. Then I read your details and see we are on the same page. I am wearing black today and sad to say only the black people in my office are wearing black also...I guess the rest of the people doesn't see it as a much bigger issue than black people supporting one another - It's about injustice but I could go on about this topic so I'll stop here.

When people can't take a hint. for instance the kid that won't quit sending me messages *already blocked him* he thinks he's being funny but he's making me really, really mad.
& that person that answered first doesn't know what their talking about. Carlos Mencia is one of the funniest comedians I have ever seen. In fact I watch his show all the time, even the reruns.

I hate those stupid candid camera type shows that make people look stupid...especially when they make old people look dumb...I feel sorry for them...
Like when they let a wheelchair go with a dummy in it and some 65 year old guy, trying to do a good deed, runs after it...probably giver the guy heart palpitations!
I hate that!!!!

I'm with you - not funny at all!
I don't find any sort of prejudice funny, be it racial, religious, etc. I really do not understand all the hatred out there at all. It's so very sad really.
