Assuming that your computer was not hot when you turned it on this morning, we are not talking about a overheating problem. Your disk drive may be failing, you might want to talk to a repairman.

hi lewis,if you continue to have these problems then download the missing dll file "kernel32.dll" from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?kernel32
however this sounds more like a boot.ini problem, the boot ini is part of windows that deals with loading your operatings system correctly
one error or missing file in this and your operating system will not load correctly, hence the message "dll kernel is need windows cannot start"
in respect of prevention of this problem i would firstly run a error check,go to my computer and right click local disk c and select properties, then select tools and then error check,as you are using windows the check will be done after the next restart, also tick the box to "automatically fix errors"
now you need to restart windows and let the error check complete,it consists of three stages and may take a few minutes, after the check any errors will be fixed and windows will restart again
next you should run your current anti-virus software and also a antispyware scan, just to confirm this is not due to malware/spyware,its best to run these scans in safe mode as viruses and spyware have less places to hide
also keep your p.c clean and free of clutter by downloading "ccleaner" from http://www.ccleaner.com/,this will keep your p.c free from the rubbish and clutter that can grind some systems to a halt
any problems let me know
good luck lewis !

Sounds like the computer is having problems reading from the hard drive, thus the dll errors. It appears the drive is about to die on you.
Strongly recommend that you immediately back up any pictures, music, videos, documents, etc you do not want to lose. Then purchase and install a new hard drive in the computer.

At screen choose c: drive
Next screen TYPE fixmbr and perss enter (answer yes)
Next screen TYPE fixboot and press enter (answer yes)
Next screen TYPE exit and press enter
Computer will reboot, be sure to remove the cd before it boots back up.
A lot of times this will solve boot problems. It does not affect your operating system, it remains in tact.
