Insurance fraud is a serious federal crime! Make sure he doesn't do it! Help him get another job! Do anything to get him away from this guy, even if he has to get this guy in trouble, and take a lower-paying job somewhere else. Good luck!

OK, ask yourself: What would he be insuring? If he's carrying insurance for liability for siding work, and there's an issue with a roofing job, sounds like your son's going to be hit with full-liability WITHOUT insurance.

This question is beyond my scope, but common sense, and a sceptic's mind, tells me your son needs to run for cover: his employer is a shyster. There is nothing to gain from dealing with shady people. I would question why a contractor is setting your son up to be used as a sub-contractor. Have you investigated your son's employer? Checked his licenses and credentials? Could be your son is working for an employer that is doing work illegally.

You are wise to question and try to protect your son. I'd encourage you to pursue it: check the employer's credentials, his history, and his work experience. If you still find the employer questionable, I'd suggest your son find an alternative employer: people like this LOVE to drag others down with them when they fall and you do NOT want your son to be one of them.

What's your questions?

It's already illegal for your son to receive cash payments without filing for taxes. I suggest that he look for another job. If being caught, he could end up in jail and the rest of his life/career is over.

tell him to start looking for a new job with a respectable company (not to mention a boss who is a straight shooter)
