When people sell hundreds or thousands of second hand or "as new" things on ebay, where do they normally source them from?

emu,

most of the really big sellers on ebay are wholesalers. that is a costly investment. not for the feint of heart!

you can start by going to garage sales, thrift stores, etc... selling things around your house.

please STAY AWAY from DROPSHIPPERS!
the risks are way too high.

many sellers on ebay get in loads of trouble because they trusted a dropshipper.

here's what happens:

you get lined up with a dropshipper.

you list the items on ebay.

you have a buyer.

you send the dropshipper the customers money from YOUR account.

the money is now gone from the customer and from your account.

the dropshipper doesn't ship.

the buyer complains.

YOU owe the customer a refund.

now MORE of your money is gone.
you lose!

there are very few legitimate dropshippers out there.

plus, ebay is so saturated with all the junk you see on late night TV from places like SMC, that those sellers aren't making nearly what the ads would have them believe.

be very careful!

and stay away from CHINA! almost all the fakes on ebay come from there!

90% + of all DESIGNER items on ebay are FAKES.

start small and good luck!

I had a friend make money do a little of this. He would find stuff locally that was going for cheap and sell it online.

- Estate Sales
- Liquidation sales (companies going out of business)
- Bulk or wholesale (if you buy 5000 units they cost a fraction of what they cost individually)

Also, a lot of stuff is cheap imports and knock-offs.

Well, there are auctions, wholesalers that drop ship for them and if you can find it...China wholesalers that drop ship for you. I'm actually in the process of finding certain auctions and wholesalers for my next business.

Hope this helps
