One approach you could make is to change the perspective of your question. Instead of 'why am I here?' phrase it along the lines of 'I am here, what do I need to do about it?'

From there, you explore your talents, abilities, and your interests. If you were playing Scrabble, you would try to make the words from what blocks you had, or could acquire (where school comes in). You wouldn't merely see how many words were broadly possible, but possible with your slate of letters (your talents, abilities, and interests).

In Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy, he has a character remark that we are but to make the most of what time we have. One of Tolkien's contemporaries and friends was another writer named C.S. Lewis. C.S. Lewis was long an athiest, detesting the Christianity he grew up with. It was Tolkien that led Lewis to the person of Jesus. Today, when one thinks of Christian writers, Lewis is usually on the list, for he wrote weighty and persuasive things about it. Tolkien, while a strong believer in Christ, is not so commonly known for that. Lewis, Tolkien, and a couple of other friends called themselves the Inklings, because they loved to write. Tolkien did what seemed best for him to do--he taught languages and wrote intricate stories and poems. Lewis did what seemed best for him to do--he taught English and wrote uniquely descriptive stories.

What are you able and interested in doing? It could be why you are here, to uniquely do what you are uniquely interested and able to do in the time you are given.

There is none. You are here, because you exist. There is nothing else that can be explained rationally.
