or do i have to use a proper cooker cable i think they are 10mm ..... i just want to buy one and plug it into the mains with no hassle.

A ceramic hob will have a load of 8-10 kw. (33- 42 amps) and will not work from a socket. It needs to be wired to a 32amp exclusive cooker circuit with 6²mm cable, and an DP. isolator.

I have a ceramic hob and yes you can just plug it into a normal power socket I've had mine now for 3 weeks and it doesnt make any difference whats so ever

NO! this has to be on a fuse of it own and the fuse as to be 30am also the cable as to be 6mm or 10mm, you must NOT put it in a 13am power socket.

if you could simply plug them in there would not be any point having cooker sockets!!!!!!
it would work in a normal socket but you will eventually cause a fire or damage the electrics in the whole house. your house insurance will be invalid as well. get smart, get it done properly!!!!

you need to use proper cooker cable because this purpose made for the cooker

i dont think the fuse box to the plug will take the load ! which is why you need heavier cables etc

30amp cable and seperate switch on wall .normal 13 amp plug will blow to bits.

If you did that you would fry the ring main,Needs its own supply,Own fuse,6 mmcable minimum.
