i mean sure you dont go to the game to watch touchdown dances but it makes it a lot more entertaining and i dont think its right to restrict that.
what do you think?

As long as they're not degrading, or show poor sportsmanship, I think it's ok. Here's the thing I don't understand about the touchdown celebrations. They cut down on the celebrations because they want the players to focus more on the team aspect of the game...yet they don't allow team touchdown celebrations (like the St. Louis Rams did with the "Greatest Show on Turf"...or the Atlanta Falcons during the "Prime Time" era). Besides, I can remember the days when I was hoping Ickey Woods would score a touchdown, so I could see the "Ickey Shuffle"...and I'm not even a Bengals fan.

Sometimes, I think the NFL stands for "No Fun League"

As with anything else, the touchdown dance itself is not a bad thing but there are some people that have to take it to extremes. It started with a little jig by Billy "Whiteshoes" Johnson. Some players can't control themselves and think that they should be able to do anything and everything. if the league left it unchecked, guys like TO would have a full halftime show every time they scored. Why can't players be more like Barry Sanders and just act with a little class?

Part of the issue is that the dances are not just after touchdowns, but are about egocentric players who talk smack about one play when they're getting killed in the overall game. Sometimes there is no sense of perspective. A little dance after a TD seems fine.

Football is a team sport, not an individual sport. For TO or others to go through a long choreographed routine to draw attention to themselves alone is disrespectful to his own teammates and the other team. There is nothing wrong with a spontaneous show of emotion but if a player feels the need to carry on, he should find the other 10 guys that helped him get to the end zone.

I don't think I could say it's taking the fun out but i definitely see what your going for. I think excessive celebration should be limited to the length of the celebration. If your not off the field before it's time for the extra point or two point conversion, then it's a penalty. But to say you cant use the football or the goalpost or a magic marker for that matter :) is silly to me. Yes this is their job but whats the harm in trying to have fun at work as long as business is taken care of? I say let them dance and sign autographs and alley oop through the goalpost cuz I like to watch it!

Within reason, I say let them do a little dance. Nothing more then 30 seconds though. I can see why they fined T.O. because he used the ball as a prop. They fined the guy last year(can't remember who it was) when he put the ball under his jersey like he was pregnant after his touchdown to let people know his wife was pregnant. They need to be consistent.

There`s always somebody out there thats got Clout, trying to improve things, P.U. It sucks. Why can`t they leave well enough alone. I agree with you 100%. Plus it takes 2+2/2 hrs to watch a 45 minute game on TV due to the friggin commercials. There ought to be a law against people trying to jam something down the publics throwt .
It`s called FREE ENTERPRISE. It might not be great, but is far better than not having the freedom to have football games!

I agree, I think everybody takes themselves and everything too seriously. Why is life so serious? I grew up in the woods, so when I moved to the city I was Horrified to find out how up tight the real world is.
I haven't managed to find a video of the dance that caused all the commotion but the guy got fined over 7 thousand dollars.... what could he possibly have done?

Hey, I do a little dance when I'm happy too. I see nothing wrong with it unless it takes too much time away from the game.
