The politician advocating that married spouses wouldn't be as like to take their marriage for granted if they knew the other spouse would have to agree to renew every seven years. What do you think of that?

Last that I checked, most people say in their "vows", "till death do us part". The idea of a marriage having an expiration date, is ridiculous. It seems to me that it'd be just another way for the government to get money out of me to "renew" my marriage certificate. Also, marriage shouldn't be easy to get out of. It shouldn't be entered into lightly. It's not something you can just decide to opt out of in a few years, ya know. At least it shouldn't be!

Why not just assume that when you get married it is forever? If marriage is for only 7 years, that makes marriages disposable.

yeah, I was actually pushing for a 3 year marraige with an option to renew........ similar to a car lease
But 7 years.... ummm maybe 5 is the sweet spot....
I wanted to generate enough intrest... and it's too late for me, i was thinking more for my kids....
