We all know this incident was a hate crime. But, do you think racism towards blacks or whites is justifiable due to the aftermath of this occurrence?
**I've noticed the inner racism slowly coming out of people after this incident occurred.
What are your thoughts?

YES! I was waiting for someone to say something like what Satan just said. I KNEW someone was going to bring that up. I constantly hear " well if it would've been 6 white kids doing that..." These students are charged with attempted murder, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT? Seriously?

WOW, the real truth comes out! It seems like the people answering this question really have a racial chip on their shoulder. Its so amazing how some non-blacks love to point out black against white racism. We tend to forget that in order to be racist on has to feel like the other race is inferior. Do we really think that these 6 feel superior to these white kids??? The Jena 6 aren't racist at all, they have a violence control problem and anger problems. They were mad and disgusted by the acts of the white students and stupidly took it out on the wrong people. They feel like they have no power in the situation and did something to make them feel like they have power. They deserve to be tried as juveniles on assault charges, thats it. Racism towards blacks has and is still happening on a daily basis everywhere, whether in your face or behind your back. There are people in positions of power that hate black people and will use thier power against us. Many white D.A. across this country are racists, just ask the families of the many black men in jail right now. Had the noose incident never occured, had the tree been open for anyone to sit under, this incident would have never occurred. Damn, someone should come to Jena to help these 6 so that no more racism occurs against them right?
People jump on Sharpton and Jackson's back like they are really evil? All they want is some face time in front of the camera, to give a message and hope that some black people around the country will rally with them to make sure that no further injustice happens to these 6. Whats wrong with that? That is their job. They want the face time for their organizations and they want black people to unite for a cause. Were they being racists when they pointed out the injustices that happend during the hurricane Katrina floods?
I mean at least the 6 should be tried failry in front of a jury of their peers right? If I had the money and the time I would fly out there right now to show my support for these 6 mis-understood and mis-educated black youth. This is NOT a hate crime, this is a crime of anger and of retaliation and an apparent lack of self-control. These 6 need therapy and not to be just more black males in the system.
Go here to really see why these 6 acted the way they did.

I watched Dr. Phil last week and I think he had a reverend on there who said it is about racism, because recently(during this recent event, or before the event I don't remember), a couple of white dudes knocked down his church post- on purpose. The bottom line is this: what are these parents parents teaching the children, why would the white folks hang nooses on a tree for God's sakes! Who taught them about that. the significance of the noose, hurt far worse than a beating. The dudes who beat up the white boy were wrong and deserves to be punished, I agree 100%; but remember, this is a 'white' town. so the black kid who didn't hit the boy gets eleven months in jail, with an all white jury and he is still there currently,Tthats what the hoopla is all about. Some people say" oh, it was about thugs beating on a white guy.:" if you are going to tell the story, tell the whole thing and don't leave out any facts.

No, I do not think reversing the racism is an acceptable response. I am upset with Jackson trying to say this is injustice. I think the prosecutors overreacted trying to slap attempted murder on the boys, but then I also think the boys overreacted too in assaulting another kid who wasn't even responsible for the original event, hanging the nooses from a tree. The original boys were punished by the school with 3 days of suspension which might have been a little to light but that is a matter of opinion. Yes, hanging the nooses was a wrong thing to do, but no one was hurt over that.

People need to tell the truth and get the whole facts. Those white kids put a noose around a tree representing what racist whites did to black people in earlier days - hanging them from a tree --- this is a violent act by white kids so they deserved the retaliation from the blacks. Also a white person pulled a gun on a black to start trouble and another white started a fight with a black based upon this noose incident. Those 6 blacks were just letting the racist whites know that they are not push overs. Whites still think they can persecute blacks, deny them of jobs, call them what ever they want and get away with it, then when blacks fight back the whites call the white person who the blacks fight a victim. That white person was not a "victim". I'm agains't unnecessary fighting and violence and I'm not racist but I will not let a racist person do what ever they want to me either.

It's rationalizeing and that breaks down to Rational Lies. There is nothing that can be justification for ANY hatred. White or black, Republican or Democrat, green or purple it makes no difference. IT'S WRONG. Whether or not you call it racism or whatever it's still hatred. It doesn't matter if it's David Duke or Al Sharpton it's hatred. And it's WRONG.
Don't allow those who practice hatred to get by with it. In the US it's racism. In Iraq it's religious bias. In Kosovo it's racial cleansing. It's still NOT justified. It's just plain WRONG!

NO, I do however believe it gives justification to question the justice system. No one is denying a crime occurred. However, I do question how some folks get 2 years for the same crime while others get 20. It doesn't make sense and that is a miscarriage of justice. Should the Jena 6 be punished for physical assaulting a classmate? Yes. Should they be tried as minor and given the same sentence any other minor would occur? Yes. Should their racial makeup make a difference? NO.

What about the Tennessee 4? Racism is wrong no matter what the color of the person.
Big problem that I have is that little to nothing has been talked about the Tennessee 4 even though there were two people who were tortured and raped in front of each other before being put on fire and killed with a gun.
BOTH of these crimes were inexcusable, period.

I don't believe racism can be justified, understood yes, but not justified. It seems that racism is a learned trait, but talking with your neighbour who is a different color may help an individual to realize that there fears of the "evil black man" or "evil white man" is unfounded. If we try to justify, not understand, racism then we go backwards as a people. I commend you for asking the question, the more dialogue between people of different races and religions the better.

No, I don't think racism is justified.
It is a shame that there are pockets of extreme racism in our country. No person I know wants a division between the races in our country. We like to think we are making progress towards a kinder society.
I do not know the answer to Jena, but it should be solved legally. Those townspeople may never be able to overcome their bigotry now. What a shame. What a waste.
Pray for peace among the races.

There is never a justification for racism. The only reason for racism is some people more often the racist have a very low self esteem.
