Sometimes it seems that way, I wouldn't call it dual personalities though. I think its more or less knowing what you can and can't say or do in certain environments. That's something we all should do. Whatever the case. If your at work, you have to be professional. When your with friends, you don't have to be in work mode. I hate to go anywhere,( restaurants, dealerships, clothing stores, etc.) and see people acting unprofessional, but it happens all the time

just at work and not for street credibility. typically in the street ppl say i "talk white" or i'm "bourgeoisie" but the funny part is, of course other ppl of other races don't think that. before they talk to me they think i'm ghetto b/c i wear tattoos and bohemian style clothing. I've even heard ppl say, you talk too proper to be black and ppl saying, your not like other black ppl which is an insult b/c i am like other black ppl. my skin is brown. i can't act the way i do at home with my co-workers and i'm sure that's universal not just specific to black ppl which is why i get so frustrated when ppl fake like they don't have deep down feelings about other races... let's be really real... most ppl don't take the time to find out whether ur ghetto or not... they just assume from stereotypes!

I think Marilyn T hit the nail on the head! There's a time and place for everything. What you do @ home around your family and friends may not be very acceptable in the work place.....Street Cred is only what you make it to be. I think that's more of a "male" ego trip anyway. Pffft! This applies to any race..not just black people...

What street credibility? What TV show or rap album have you been listening to? Everyone(for the most part) acts differently at work vs. at home!

i dont
my personallity isnt "ghetto" so i dont have to worry about who i'm around to change personalities
and just so u kno not all black ppl are ghetto
like me for example there are SOOOO many other not ghetto black ppl out there

Everyone has to have dual personalities at work.Otherwise we would all be fired for speaking up.
