They are hardly visible unless they are in a large groupo. They are black and have the size of a small flea. Too hard to follow them. (my kitchen table is black granite) Raid or any other ant-killer work only for short time and then they are back. I want some NATURAL treatment/solution I can use. I have kids that will touch the kitchen tables and furniture.

I am afraid cloves dont work. I have tried it. As of taking of every thing they like to eat, I would have to empty my kitchen and pantry!. they even bite/break sugar bags and get inside. You open a pack of sugar and you find several of them in there. The package was perfect from the supermarket but they got into it. They even got inside the honey bottle which was hermetically closed. I dont know how they managed to get inside there.

I had the same problem when i was living in Florida, i know the exact ants you are talking about. I am afraid the oatmeal will not work neither will the Windex solution, reason for this is there are far too many ants, there are millions of them. Now here is what i did.
I am from the UK and i remembered some ant poison i used to use here, i know you want a natural product but i am afraid it is not possible with these ants. The product is called nippon. It is like a syrup and the ants eat it and take it back to the nest. If you know anyone in the UK get them to send you some or maybe try on eBay. This stuff works but it does take time, you need to let them take it to the nests so no killing them. You can leave it along there trails away from your kids reach, Good luck, i know how horrible they are.

Bug spray is the worse because the chemicals smell up the house and if they are near a flame the burning chemical is even deadlier. 409 is ok but if you are going to use 409 make sure you wipe up the scent trail and do not smash any ants. If you smash ants it will drive the other ants crazy because the dead ants leave a scent that makes the others ants pick them up and take them back to the nest for food, so they keep coming back for more. Wipe down the counter, and most importantly the whole trail down the side of the counter, there is a scent there too. Wipe it down with warm water. Now the ones that are on the floor or on the carpet, make sure you do not spray but use a vacuum. The vacuum will suck them up without leaving a death scent. When the ants get in the vacuum they are stuck and can't get out, they die from the dust and over exhaustion trying to get out and also starve. I have tried everything and have found out that using a vacuum and warm water is the best. The MAIN THING is to wipe up the scent EVERYWHERE .. then they will be gone. And don't forget to use the vacuum on other parts of the carpet. There are scout ants that leave the main trail looking for other food, they need to be vacuumed up too. They aren't as many, but they are scouting for more food, and if they find something, they will leave a new scent trail from that new food source, walking back to the main trail and let the others in on it .. then it starts all over again. Suck em up!!! =)

take away their favorite snacks which include jam, marmalade , honey , cakes , and crumbs of all kinds. If they have no food to eat they will leave of their own accord. If you know where they are coming from , then put black pepper in and around the entrance to their tunnel. The little ants will then carry this into the egg-laying queen´s nest . She will then move the ants out. As you have small children home . keep this area cornered of. Sweep up or vacuum when finished in your kitchen, keep all sweet foodstuff in tight lidded containers. No snacks no point in staying .

As with oatmeal, grits do the same. Take a spray bottle, put 3 cloves of garlic, fill 2/3 with vinegar the rest with water. Let set for 48 hours. Spray away. Inside and outside around doors and windows. (And the smell goes away quickly)

I bought a can of whole cloves. Put a few in about 5 different small glass bowls and sit them inside my cabinets. They hate the smell and it works pretty good.

Terro is a clear gel that is supposed to be natural and non toxic. You put a little on a piece of cardboard and the ants carry it to the queen. I've used it. I had ants move into my dishwasher. It worked!

I did this when I has ants in my kitchen:

SPRAY all your counter tops down w. Windex (or another windo cleaning product, they are all the same), and then wipe ants away later!

They will be killed instantly (the ammonia is poisonous)... BUT use CAUTION if you have small children OR PETS!

Do not allow pets or kids in the room while you are doing it!
Thanks!

Good luck!

I'd go for the blow torch.
Try putting sulphur dust and/or ground cayenne pepper around the edge of the house, right along the foundation walls.

I have heard oatmeal works good. It swells and causes them to explode like feeding rice to birds. Sprinkle some around where you see them and they will take it back to their nest.
