Mychal Bell needs $90000 bail. 40000 people chipping in $2.50 each would raise $100000. More than enough to bail him out of jail. They will spend more than that just on soft drinks and snacks.

Come on Dems/Libs......admit the obvious. Mr. Bell is of more use to you in jail than as a free man. The last thing any of these people want is Bell out of jail.

Hey Dems/Libs if you really want to help this guy put up a $1.00 each and raise his bail. But you ain't gonna do that because then you would not be able to whin and cry and rant and rave.

Very good point!!!
I think it's pretty sick how they are using this as an election stance for Dems/Libs. I cannot beleive what they said about Obama not bein black enough.
This is out of hand. I am so sick of this race card issue. It is just dividing us either further.
You can't tell me that protest is going to be 95% black people.

It's easier to scream and cry and make a fuss than actually take any action. They can't bail him out - if they did, then they'd no longer have a martyr for their cause.

Because you know this isn't about that kid anymore, it's about other issues.

EDIT - unreasonable bail? So it's ok for a 16 year old to help beat someone so bad they have to go to the hospital and are rendered unconscious, but if they were over 18 you'd say the bail was reasonable? Double standard here? 16 years olds are fully cognizant of their actions, and want to be treated like adults. Well, they got their wish in this case.

So, you don't think that 6 people beating up one person couldn't possibly have lead to that one person's death? Where do you live that people hit so weakly that this wouldn't be a distinct possibility and highly likely?

Would you have been happier if the white boy had died?

Oh, and Daniella - until you work with teenagers all the time, don't assume they are children still. a 14 year old might be, but more 16 and 17 year olds are not. And baloney on the "opportunities" issue- opportunities to succeed do NOT determine your morals - your morals are gotten from your parents and society around you - and obviously their learned moral code from their society says it's just fine to beat people up and not expect to face the consequences.

You are so right. The amount of bail though is completely absurd for a 16 year old. Our justice system is corrupt and it needs to be fixed, especially in the states that still use the confederate flag.

Edit: You people have to understand that a 16 year old is still a child. Yes he knew right from wrong but it isn't going to stop him because he's a kid. You really have to go back and remember all the stupid stuff you did at 16. I sure do and looking back, me today would take taken a step back and walked away. But teens do not work that way, especially today. And I'm sure all those other boys were probably 18, but they're still teenagers. I'm not advocating that they are innocent, but saying that they need to be treated fairly as adults, even the 16 year old. But to be slapped with attempted murder when the other kid was fine, stupid. If you remember how many times a fight broke out in your HS where there was more than one guy on the other, it's the same circumstance. The only difference is it's the south, they still treat people of color differently. These retarded protestors are sending the wrong message. They should be telling people that the 6 should get equal treatment all done by the book. Not get a harsher punishment because they're black.

I'm a Democrat but I gotta say- Keep that piece of trash and his friends behind bars. Screw them, 6 on 1 c'mon!? That white kid they beat wasn't even the one who put the nooses up, it was some other 3 kids.

You are right, how about all of it coming from the Rev. Jackson and All Sharpton. They are just glory hounds.

Because he is no longer being charged for attempted murder but instead assult which is justified.

The rally continued even with the change in charges because there needs to be an out cry concerning the disparity in charges/sentencing and overall punishment between minoroties and whites. Again I would dare ANYONE using ANY facts to dispute that point.

Then all they would have to protest is global warming, and that just isn't as much fun.

It would probably be under $10,000 if you got a bondsman to pay for it.
